Jamie arrived the day after Thanksgiving, 17 days before his expected due date. Fortunately, he is quite healthy and we've had an amazing, emotional roller-coaster of a week getting to know each other. We were planning on having at least a few more days to help get the house ready for him, but thanks to our wonderful family and friends we had most everything we needed to bring him home. Danny had to run home from the hospital to put the co-sleeper together, do some cleaning and laundry, and install the carseat, but we had the changing table and glider already set up and his clothes sorted by size, if not yet washed. Special thanks to Jamie's Great Aunt Mary who sent a "baby shower-in-a-box" with a going-to-the-hospital kit that was a life-saver since we ended up having only a very short amount of time to get to the hospital and hadn't packed a bag yet. Also to Grammy Ward for coming out to visit a few weeks ago and making sure we had a nursery to set up in the first place, while Grandpa Ward worked with Danny on trying to get some house projects accomplished. Tonight Danny is looking forward to introducing Jamie to his first UCLA-USC football game, and tomorrow we're looking forward to picking up Grammy Ward from the airport!

Yes? What?
Getting ready to go home. Thanks to Great Aunt Mary for knitting the beautiful hat and booties!
We're finally using the sitting-room to sit in :). Actually, it's now the nursery. Auggie is a good and protective older brother to his little brother, Jamie. The first couple of nights were especially rough though, what with Jamie crying upstairs and Auggie crying downstairs. Auggie didn't understand why he was being ostrasized from his pack. After a couple of days of adjustment, Auggie now has almost free-reign of the house again, with the exception that he no longer gets to sleep with us, but he does have a new bed of his own in our room which he begrudgingly uses.
Grammy & Grandpa are in love with our little Jamie. You are a precious gift to our family. Huge thanks to Mommy and Daddy for sharing our newest gift. I'm packing my bags and heading your way. Love, Grammy
ReplyDeleteThe four of you look like you are adjusting well to the new environment for each of you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you taught Jamie to say "Fight On" so he is not traumatized by last night's game.
Great Auntie Mary and I are looking forward to seeing you all in the Spring.
